Who We Are

1221 Art Space provides studio space, exhibition opportunities and employment for those diagnosed with mental illness in Franklin County.

Through dialogue with peers and other artists, we enrich artistic experience and provide guidance toward professionalism in the Columbus arts community. That may entail marketing and selling artwork or teaching others about technique.

Our gallery includes a gift store where you can find fascinating trinkets and one-of-a- kind artwork.

OUR SERVICES

We provide free art supplies for use in our studio space for all members. Including but not limited to: paints, drawing tools, clay, jewelry, textiles, sewing, and assemblage materials.

Exhibition Opportunities

Art Space Artists not only have access to our gallery space here, but also multiple exhibition opportunities throughout Columbus.

Retail Experience

With our own Artist’s Storefront, we offer space for members to sell their creations at 1221, while also providing outside retail opportunities like vendor experiences at festivals and our yearly Heart of Concord event.

Heather P. is an artist in search of the truth. Heather loves to present work that is left up to the imagination and personal interpretation. She continues to hint and reference lies that we tell ourselves, that we believe, lies that promote trauma, and disruption, but none the less that forge a way to justice, truth, and healing.

Just Parja has evolved as her time as an Art Space Artist. An assemblage artist at heart, Just Parja experiments with her mediums to create fantastical and oftentimes wearable pieces of art. She has become an integral part of our studio, and has many exciting endeavors ahead of her!

Joel W. is a longtime member of Art Space. Always leading with honesty and the desire for fun, Joel's art portrays the colors inside him. Geometric and bright, Joel is a prolific artist that is continuedly trying out new subjects to draw, all while cheering us up in his classic pirate wear.
